The Islamic response to the US embassy move to Jerusalem

Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates give quarter billion dollars to Waqf, other Islamic groups in Jerusalem in “rescue” push.

Islamic countries have sent a quarter of a billion dollars to the Islamic Waqf and other Muslim organizations in Jerusalem in response to the relocation of the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates donated the funds as the first step in what they referred to as the “rescue” of Jerusalem and its holy sites, News 2 reported. The funds are to be used to “renovate and fortify” Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem.

The US embassy will open in Jerusalem in less than two weeks, on May 14.

US President Donald Trump has stated that he may attend the opening ceremony on May 14.

Trump stated on Tuesday: “Maybe I’ll visit Jerusalem this month.”

A report in March stated that Trump would not attend the opening of the embassy in Jerusalem due to scheduling conflicts.

It was reported that in the president’s place, Trump’s daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner would represent the administration at the embassy’s opening ceremony.
